Bridesmaid Trends for 2017

Bridesmaid Trends For 2017

We are happy to report that bridesmaid dresses have come along way (We're looking at you 1980's). Gone are the days of excessively large bows adorning our shoulders and derrieres. Bridesmaid dresses today are fresh takes on the latest fashion trends, and dare we say, can be worn again for many social occasions. With that in mind, we'd like to highlight a few of our favorite stand out trends.

Separates

Separates have made a huge splash in the bridal world. Crop tops and camis, both long and short skirts, and let's not forget the convertible skirt that takes a formal church gown to a cocktail length dress ready for the dance floor in minutes. This trend not only allows for each bridesmaid to pick a piece that reflects their personality but also a perfect size for their top and bottom, reducing alterations. Check out Watters and The Dessy Collection separates for inspiration.

 Back Detail

Taking another cue from bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses are making a statement with illusion and statement backs. Cutouts, bows, pretty fabrics and unusual cuts are a great way to make a classic, simple dress really pop, making your maids feel like a million bucks. Take a look at Alfred Angelo's new Spring 2017 collection for a gorgeous assortment of detailed backs. We predict many wedding updos.

Mixed Metallics

Sequins continue to be a strong fashion statement going into 2017, but with a twist. Why just have Gold when you can have Gold, Silver, Rose Gold, and Copper... Gorgeous!

Colored Sequins

Love the glamour of sequins, but need an edge? Veer off from metallics altogether and opt for a pretty jewel tone instead. Red, Emerald, Navy or even deep Purple... they all work beautifully. Be sure to check out Christina Wu Celebration and their extensive selection of sequin colors.

Flutter Sleeves

These delicate and feminine sleeves are a flattering touch for any bridal party. They are a great complement to a laid back Boho style. We are absolutely loving the options available from Mori LeeBari Jay, and Dessy, to name a few. Many of them are offered in the prettiest shades of pastel.

Standout Maid of Honor

We love the idea of mismatched bridesmaids. Why not take it a step further and have your maid of honor standout in a single dress in print, full sequin or an embellished pattern to contrast with the rest of the party? 2017 is the year for maids of honor to have their moment! Mori Lee's style 21520 is one of our favorites!
